You know I sometimes bemoan that the Bible is not larger, for this simple reason – I love those moments when I come across a text and I am like – I didn’t know that such a verse existed.
I kind of had such a moment this past Sabbath, was busy memorising some verses from Revelation 7 (ever since that kind of took a knock from my illness, now the ability has been returning slowly). When I came across verse 11 it was like – wow. Too be honest I am sure I should have read this verse before, but this time the scene came with such a vividness that just charmed me.
And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,
The part that charms me is “and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God”. The scene of such adoration is just beautiful. But I must admit there was another thing that made this verse so beautiful; we find in the previous two verses a picture of the redeemed, and in verse 10 them praising God. Then in response as it were to this the angels fall before God and worshipped.
At this point I was wondering – would this act of worship be prompted by seeing the work of salvation completed? Almost as it were – wow Father, Your wisdom and power are amazing – that You would be able to redeem man from the fallen state they were in.
Each time, while reciting, and I was reaching those last three words – “and worshipped God,” it was with such pathos that the words would come forth. Oh how I want to be part of the worship of heaven, that I too may be able to fall before my Father’s throne and worship in humble adoration. I look forward to that day.
