Incontrovertible evidence

Of late I have been listening and thinking a lot about the theory of evolution, and more and more I just consider this theory not only to be non-scientific, but also a clear propaganda. As I hear debates on the matter of the origins of life – I find it interesting how when a tough question sometimes is advanced to a scientist, the answer sometimes comes – well science does not have all the answers, that is why we still do research.

Now to be honest I have no issue with that answer, except only in this regard – some of these “things” that require research are things that are critical to their theory, but even without these important points not being clear, they want us to believe the theory. That I find difficult to follow.

Furthermore, when one looks at the complexity of even the smallest of cells, it is so much more than even Darwin knew, that it is almost inconceivable to think that such could arise from slight modifications over time, Actually let alone a cell – just making the first protein by chance alone – because today every protein is formed by a specialized protein – such is improbable to put it kindly, impossible – to put it frankly. Understanding such things is the reason why there are Atheist, who, like Antony Flew changed their position on the matter.

With the debates that I have listened to, I find very few arguments that can really be considered compelling for evolution. I may not understand Biology a lot, but from the mere point of hearing the reasoning of the two camps, I can’t help but to be more firmly confirmed in my belief that we can’t give a satisfying explanation for life apart from God.

Now as much as that speaks to my reasoning, I personally have greater evidence on which to rest. Bible prophecy is one of the greatest lines of reasoning one can use – that is what lead me to becoming a serious Christian, and abandoning my notions of the beginning of the universe from the big bang. That is when I realized that the Bible then is a book to be taken seriously, and the God who authored it to be undeniable – on this my mind has been forever settled.

Yet as reasonable and strong as I believe the above lines of reasoning are, there will always be those that seek to controvert them. Yet there is another line of reasoning I consider incontrovertible, and that is that of personal experience.

Yesterday I was reading a passage that is so so true.

“As we contemplate the great things of God’s word, we look into a fountain that broadens and deepens beneath our gaze. Its breadth and depth pass our knowledge. As we gaze, the vision widens; stretched out before us we behold a boundless, shoreless sea.

Such study has vivifying power. The mind and heart acquire new strength, new life.
This experience is the highest evidence of the divine authorship of the Bible. We receive God’s word as food for the soul, through the same evidence by which we receive bread as food for the body. Bread supplies the need of our nature; we know by experience that it produces blood and bone and brain. Apply the same test to the Bible; when its principles have actually become the elements of character, what has been the result? what changes have been made in the life? {Ed 171.2}

As I read I could contemplate upon my life and agree emphatically with these words. Now I will not dare claim to say I am perfect, or say I have attained to the measure of men God wants me to be; by far I am not, I am the first to recognize the great deficiencies that I see in me. Nevertheless, this being so, I can state I see God working in my life seeking to help me to become the man He wants me to be.

To the change that I have seen in my life thus far, I can say I see the truth of His word and its power. I have seen the difference between being close to God through His word, and being distant from it, and I can state that it is not the desire for change that has a power to change a man. Only through the Omnipotent One – whom I have learnt of in His word can this be done.

So yes I may not know enough science to state all the flaws of the theory of evolution, or I may not be able to give the soundest historical evidence to show the truths of Bible prophecy – yes in these I can face challenges.

Yet when it comes to working of God in the heart – that I consider one of the greatest points that I have personally. And again I state – I am far far from perfect, have many flaws, which all I want to overcome. But I can state – I have seen the power of God working in me through His word, and O how I want Him to work even more mightily!
